2016 is here! A new year, new start, some resolutions and some plans. Travel enthusiasts, it’s time to put on your thinking caps and make a bucket list of places to travel in 2016. But look no further because we have done all the work for you. Here are some places we wouldn’t miss travelling this year:
Sicily, Italy – I asked quite a few people about their travel bucket list for 2016 and Sicily came up more than once. It seems to be quite a favourite among travellers and for good reason. Sicily’s Mediterranean charm and laid-back culture makes it a prime holiday spot. The area has developed a reputation for its superb wine in recent years, so you can count on a good time.
Great Barrier Reef, Australia – One of Australia’s most remarkable natural gifts, the Great Barrier Reef is blessed with the breathtaking beauty of the world’s largest coral reef. The reef contains an abundance of marine life and comprises of over 3000 individual reef systems and coral cays and literally hundreds of picturesque tropical islands with some of the world’s most beautiful sun-soaked, golden beaches. Because of its natural beauty, the Great Barrier Reef has become one of the world’s most sought after tourist destinations.
Bora Bora, French Polynesia – This was also among the most common answers I got from people. Bora Bora is an island paradise. Here, enjoy unlimited tropical drinks and fresh seafood, walk the beaches which are said to be white and soft as baby powder, swim in the clear blue waters of the lagoon and surrounding barrier reef.
Saint Helena, Island in the Atlantic Ocean – St Helena offers one of the world’s most remote island getaways. Only recently accessible by commercial plane, the island, once the site of exile for Napoleon Bonaparte, is perfect for travellers who need a true and complete escape.
Budapest, Hungary – Straddling the Danube River, with the Buda Hills to the west and the Great Plain to the east, Budapest is a gem of a city. It won’t disappoint, that’s for sure.
My travel bucket list could go on forever. It is painful to cut out some amazing places to fit in others but that’s why you make new ones every year! This year, travellers could aim for the roads less travelled like St. Helena and discover interesting aspects about the same or cross off those destinations that have been sitting in your travel lists since forever, like Bora Bora!
