A Tibetan Budhhist monastery located in Sikkim, Rumtek is also called as Dharmachakra Center. This beautiful monastery is the seat of the Karmapa Lama who heads the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. The main attraction of Rumtek is its monastery which is the largest monastery of Sikkim. Its believed that the Rumtek monastery was built in 16th century by the 9th Karmapa Wangchuk Dorje but was again constructed by the 16th Karmapa. Apart from the Remutek Monastery other attraction is Nehru Botanical Garden having variety of Himalayan plants and flower. Nearby there is a small children park having many swings and other activities for children. Rumtek is a beautiful lush green city with amazing view and misty mountain making it an idol destination for spending a calm and relaxed vacation.
