Popular hill stations are Munnar, Wayanad, Wagamon, Peermade, Nelliampathi & Ponmudi. Kerala’s ecotourism destinations include 12 wildlife sanctuaries & 2 national parks. The backwaters are an extensive network of interlocking rivers, lakes & canals that center around Alleppey, Kumarakom, Kollam & Punnamada. Also Padmanabhapuram Palace & Mattencherry Palace are 2 notable heritage sites. Thrissur Pooram is a festival conducted with elephants, fireworks display & huge crowd, something not to be missed while in Kerala. Elephants have been an integral part of culture of the state & Kerala is home to the largest domesticated population of elephant in India—about 700 Indian elephants, owned by temples as well as individuals. You would be surprised to know that in 2012, Kerala overtook Taj Mahal to be the number one travel destination in Google’s search trends for India.
Transportation is easily available to any place within Kerala. For going around locally, plenty of auto rickshaws & bus services are available. You will also find train running at regular intervals. Also, Kerala has 3 major international airports.
Make sure you come fully prepared to do a bag full of shopping in Kerala. You can find some delectable dry snacks which you can take back home to share with everyone. Don’t forget to get your hands on filter coffee & some rich dry fruits & spices before you wind up.
