Covering an area of roughly 490 sq.km. Dudhwa National Park, Uttar Pradesh, is located on the Indo-Nepal border. It is known for the tall wet grasslands and productive Terai eco-system. Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary and Katarniaghat Wildlife Santuary together form the Dudhwa National Reserve.
Trees more than 150 years old can be found here. The forest area is a mix of perennial wetlands, deciduous, swamp and tropical-evergreen forests. Tigers, sambhars, swamp deers, leopards, rhinoceros, barasinghas etc. comprise the wild life while woodpeckers, kingfishers, minivets, storks, bulbuls, etc. are the birds found here.
February to April is the ideal period to visit this park, or even in winters as summers here are very hot and humid. Many school trips are conducted to this park wherein the children mingle with the tribal people and purchase handmade crafts from them.
