With the northern boundary running along the international border of Bhutan, Buxa Tiger Reserve is located in West Bengal, India.
It is divided into east zone & west zone and comprises of eight forest types, namely; dry and mixed deciduous, evergreen and tropical evergreen, 
Himalayan, bhabar, sal, alluvium and savannah. The main animal species includes; tigers, Asian elephants, sambars, boars, leopards, bears etc. Some of the migratory birds include – Hornbill, Whistling Teal, Minivets, Wagtails and many migratory birds. Some of the endangered bird species found here are; white vultures, chestnut breasted Partridge, rufous necked hornbills etc.
The historical Buxa fort is one of the local trekking spots which also has a Shiva temple. There is a Nature Interpretation Centre for those who camp here, where in the tour operators provide a detailed account of nature and local habitats.
