Betla National Park enjoys the status of being one of the very first parks to be included under Project Tiger. ‘Betla’ stands for an acronym – bison, elephant, tiger, leopard & axis-axis. It is located in Jharkhand, India and has an area of roughly 1000 sq km.
It has a vast range of vegetation from the tropical evergreen forests to deciduous forests along with sal, bamboo and medicinal plants. The wildlife includes elephants, leopards, langurs, porcupines, panther, nilgai etc. The black partridge, hornbill, white necked-stork etc. are a part of the avian species. You can also find waterfall and hot water springs depending upon the period you visit the part.
This park can be visited throughout the year; however, the right time to enjoy the wildlife is May to June. If you wish to enjoy the climate, the elephant rides, the birds, the forts, then choose November to March. The state tourism development can be contacted for transport/accommodation.
