Samsung Electronics launched world’s first smartphone with a curved display on Wednesday. The Galaxy round is another variant of Samsung’s flagship smartphone series – the Galaxy Note. With Galaxy round Samsung is inch closer to build dream wearable devices with flexible screens.
With the innovative Galaxy round, the South Korean giant is set to expand its lead in the world smartphone market over rivals Apple, LG, Sony and Nokia.
“It’s a step forward for having unbreakable gadgets and flexible devices eventually. But for now, the new phone is more of a symbolic product,” said Hana Daetoo Securities analyst Nam Dae-jong.
“I don’t think it’ll be massively compelling enough for gadget buyers as … the curved display doesn’t come with many unique features,” he added.
The Galaxy Round comes with 5.7-inch slight horizontal curve display and weighs lesser than the Galaxy Note 3. Samsung claims that Galaxy Round provides better grip facility than other flat-screen models in the market.
The phone would only be available in South Korea at 1.089 million won ($1,000).
