Annie Mathew, Head of Alliance and Developer Relations, RIM India, said: “We see huge opportunity in mobile application development. BlackBerry App World currently has 26,000-odd registered developers from India, against 5,000 two years ago, with the applications numbering over 40,000.”
Annie Mathew further said: “We have commenced pilot project in Tamil Nadu for applications created by youths for youths. We are keen to take this project across the country.”
According to her, the company has a 70:30 revenue share, where the developers take the major share. RIM is also stated to be working on the e-governance projects of the government in the area of health and education. The Company is going to launch the Near Field Communciations (NFC) technology in India by the end of November 2011.
NFC Technology has several applications. In one of them, pharmaceutical companies can gather data from their consumers very quickly.
