Fingerprint! is delighted to share that our author, Salil Desai, has been invited for ‘International Summer Residency for Writers 2016’ at H. A. L. D. (Housing Authors & Literature, Denmark).
HALD Hovedgaard, a manor house built in the 18th century, is now the home of the Danish Centre for Writers and Translators, whose primary function is to host Danish authors and translators for work retreats. The H.A.L.D.’s ‘International Summer Residency for Writers 2016’ programme selects four fiction authors outside Denmark to live and work alongside selected Danish fiction authors in HALD Hovedgaard’s main building for a period of three to four weeks during the month of June. The principal purpose of this international cultural and literary programme is the informal meeting of professional writers by having them live together in an inspiring environment.
This year HALD received 80 applications from 38 countries, including England, USA, Canada, and Singapore. Salil Desai is amongst the four writers selected from these applications. A film-maker and top crime fiction writer, Salil’s writing has been praised by well-known Indian authors like Shashi Tharoor, Shobhaa De, and Saaz Aggarwal, and his books have received good reviews in The Hindu, The Pioneer, DNA, First City, The Tribune, Afternoon Despatch & Courier, etc. An alumnus of Film & Television Institute of India (FTII), Salil’s dramatized training videos (www.relivingindia.com) are much appreciated in the corporate world, while his short films, Making Amendsand …To Khayega Kya, have been screened at various film festivals. His literary work includes The Murder of Sonia Raikkonen, Killing of Ashish Karve, Lost Libido & Other Gulp Fiction.
Other international authors selected for the programme are Amanda Michalopoulou, a Greek writer, Fiona Shaw, a British writer, and Jac Jemc, an American writer.
