In a strong counter attack, Zee News on Saturday has sent a defamation notice of Rs.150 crore to Congress MP and industrialist Naveen Jindal.
Zee news issued a statement, which says: “Zee News has granted a three-day time period to Mr Naveen Jindal to withdraw all his unsubstantiated and defamatory allegations against Zee News, failing which Mr Jindal would face civil and criminal actions initiated by Zee News.”
On 25 October, Naveen Jindal organized a press conference on behalf of his company Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) where he accused Zee News for trying to “extort” Rs.100 crore from the company for not showing stories against Jindals on coal block allocation controversy.
Naveen Jindal even released a CD claiming that it has recorded conversations of Zee officials who were trying to make a deal with JSPL. JSPL had also filed Rs.200 crore case against Zee News.
However Zee News has firmly denied all the charges made by Naveen Jindal at the press conference and they said it is an attempt to distract attention from demand for independent investigation in the Coalgate scam.
