And the victorious party is BJP! Yes, the mandate of people in Maharashtra and Haryana is well in the public domain. And majority of the voters have chosen BJP in both the states. In Haryana, BJP secured a complete majority which has given them a green signal to successfully form a government. However in Maharashtra, the party has not secured those many seats needed to form a government.
Even though Maharashtra results have been slightly disappointing for the party, yet it had all reasons to celebrate its victory in the state of Haryana and palpable performance in Maharashtra.
Now, this clear mandate in Haryana highlights the faith that voters there have in the developmental policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP. The Congress, INLD, HJC and others have been completely swiped out in Haryana by the BJP. The state has got its first BJP and non-Jat Chief Minister.
Talking about elections in Maharashtra – they’ve been extremely interesting this time. BJP which contested the elections while prompting about Modi wave was expected to secure a clear majority which it certainly did not. But, it’s emergence as the single largest party in Maharashtra, pushing Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP on number 2, 3, 4 respectively, created a reason for its leaders to smile. And as election results were nearly clear, surprises began popping up.
Attempting to demolish criticism and forwarding a hand ahead, the NCP made a move; a move that startled everyone. By noon itdeclared to give an outside support to the BJP. And as this decision was made, discussions for a moment turned towards the intention behind this move. According to some, this move was expectable as SharadPawar desires the support of BJP to protect his nephew AjitPawar from being jailed. Some also say that he cannot live without power. If these reasons are to be believed, then we can say that NCP has intelligently taken this move.
Besides, any person who tracked the campaigns in the state knows that both, BJP and NCP have cornered each other at multiple instances. Thus, it is going to be interesting to see whether BJP will consider its support or not. But guess what? Even when the decision is in the hands of BJP, Shiv Sena, through its Saamna editorial has taunted NCP for its move. Well, now that’s a political strategy.
Talking about Congress for a while, one can evidently say that its leadership, especially Rahul Gandhi, is under attack from its own party men over his style of functioning. To be extremely frank, Congress is suffering from leadership crisis. It has no one to project in front a dynamic BJP leader Narendra Modi.
Well, although for BJP and Shiv Sena this mandate is satisfying, but there is one party for which it has been full of disappointment. In this maha-battle, Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) managed to secure only one seat. Yes; just one, which is really melancholic a figure for a regional party.
Okay, let’s put it apart. What isgone is gone. And currently the sizzling topic is the uncertainty on the name of CM and probable coalition. Lots and lots of speculations are making rounds, and many new gossips are arising with
each passing day. When Devendra Fadnavis was the frontrunner for the Chief Minister’s post, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s name suddenly appeared in the list. Reportedly, there is a section inBJP which wants to see Gadkari as the Chief Minister. But hey, don’t you forget that many in the party are still backing Fadnavis’ name as the CM.
Anyways, we’ll leave it to them. BJP has appointed two observers who are responsible for the formation of a stable government in Maharashtra. The state is facing many challenges and the responsibility of solving them now lies on the upcoming government. But with so many twists and turns, we’ve just got tohope that the government forms to be a stable one.
