Haryana boy Sushil Kumar lives up to the expectations of 100 crore Indians by winning Silver medal for the country at the 2012 London Olympics game in Men’s 66kg Freestyle Wrestling event on Sunday.
The 29-year-old Sushil becomes the most successful Indian Olympian for winning 2 Olympic individual medals in two successive games. Earlier Sushil won a bronze medal at the Beijing Olympic in 2008.
India who ranked in 55th position in the final medal tally ends up this year’s London Olympics with six medals including 2 silvers and 4 bronzes.
Sushil Kumar lost to Japan’s Tatsuhiro Yonemitsu 3-1 in the final. In the semifinal Sushil beat Kazakhstan’s Tana Tarov in an electrifying fight.
Rail minister Mukul Roy announces Rs 75 lakhs rewards for Sushil after winning the Silver. Delhi government announces Rs 1 crore and the Haryana govt announces Rs. 1.5 crore cash prize for Sushil for making the country proud.
