Wrestler Sushil Kumar To Be India’s Flag-bearer At London Olympics

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) announced last week that Sushil Kumar, Beijing Olympics bronze medal winning wrestler, will be India’s flag-bearer at the opening ceremony of the London Olympics on July 27.

There were few other names popping around like Abhinav Bindra, Vijender Kumar, Saina Nehwal and Leander Paes but at the end IOA decided Sushil’s name who will now lead the Indian contingent  at the opening ceremony.

“It’s a matter of great pride for me that such an honour has been bestowed upon me. I feel privileged to lead the Indian contingent at the Olympics which is considered as the biggest sporting event in the world. Sushil told media. “There are a lot of other athletes in the Indian contingent and having been chosen as the flag-bearer will only motivate me to perform better at the London Games,” the wrestler adds.
