Shiva Thapa and Sumit Sangwan showed brilliant performance and win gold medals at the Asian Olympic qualifiers in Kazakhstan and booked London tickets. Now, overall seven-strong Indian boxing contingent will represent India at the upcoming London Olympic.
Shiva Thapa, the 18-year-old teenage wonder, defeated Syria’s Wessam Salamana in the 56kg category to bag the gold. One year older than Shiva,
Sumit Sangwan, another sensational boxer in the 81kg beat Tajikistan’s Dzhakon Qurbanov to get his first senior international gold medal.
Along with this duo, Vijender Singh (75kg), L Devendro Singh (49kg), Jai Bhagwan (60kg), Manoj Kumar (64kg) and Vikas Krishan (69kg) has booked their Olympic berths.
