Barcelona striker Lionel Messi is out for six to eight weeks due t a serious leg injury. This is Messi’s third injury of the season.
Barcelona has said that Messi needs six to eight weeks to recover and comeback to ground. It means we can only able to see him in action next year.
The four-time world player of the year Messi hurt his leg during Barcelona’s match against Real Betis in La Liga. Barcelona eventually thrashed Real Betis 4-1 on Sunday.
The 26-year-old Argentine also sat on the sideline at the end of last season due to hamstring pull.
Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella expressed his concern over Messi’s injury.
“It’s worrying when a player injures himself in the same place. Being injured so near the World Cup could be influential,” Sabella said.
Barcelona teammate Cesc Fabregas said that Messi needs to take care of himself.
“Messi needs to stop and take care of himself. I also went through a very bad year-and-a-half at Arsenal because of the same injury. I hope he recovers, and that he takes all the time he needs to make sure he’s well,” Fabregas said.
Messi has scored 14 goals in 16 games in this season.
