Manchester United manager Davis Moyes can finally feel a bit relieved after two consecutive losses at Old Trafford that too against teams like Everton and Newcastle United as the Red Devils get back to winning ways at the Villa Park on Sunday. It was a clinical performance from the 20-time Champions that gave the fans something to cheer about after two consecutive defeats in the Premier League.
A first-half brace from English international Danny Welbeck and a well-taken shot from Tom Cleverley enabled the defending champions to overcome hurdle of Aston Villa by a scoreline of 3-0. It was yet another stellar performance from the United no. 10 Wayne Rooney whose agility in front of the opponent defense made things easier for an inconsistent United side. Antonio Valencia and Rafael also had a good outing on the field as they prevented the Villa wingbacks from going ahead. It was in fact a great run from Rafael down the right which he ended up by floating in a great centre that opened the scoring for the visitors. Once Adnan Januzaj’s header rebounded off the post Danny Welbeck reacted quicker ahead of the Villa defenders to put ManU in the lead. He doubled his tally within few minutes from a great centre by Antonio Valencia. Tom Cleverley, who had a great match after a long time, scored in the second half as he slotted home a perfectly weighted pass from Wayne Rooney through the near post.
It was a refreshing win for the Red Devils. The United players showed that they have got every potential to be a champion time. Just what they need is a bit of consistency.
