There was no lack of excitement throughout the day in Rajasthan as BCCI and Rajasthan Cricket Association were locked in a dramatic encounter regarding the Lalit Modi getting re-elected as the chief of RCA. As the results were announced Modi had a sweeping victory over his competitor and RCA took no time to re-elect him as its chief.
BCCI who had banned Lalit Modi few days back immediately decided to take necessary actions to prevent Modi getting associated with BCCI. The apex court also gave BCCI the license to take any action against Modi. BCCI made full use of that freedom and suspended Rajasthan Cricket Association from taking part in any kind of activities conducted by BCCI for an indefinite period of time. As ah-hoc committee has been set up to look after the cricketing aspects in Rajasthan. BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel told, “The BCCI president has indefinitely suspended RCA from participating in any BCCI activity. The decision has been taken as per the constitution clause No. 32, sub-clause 7, where the president has the right to suspend as association, which doesn’t conform with the rules and regulations of the BCCI. The decision was taken by interim president Shivlal Yadav.” He added, “BCCI is pro-player. Our endeavour will be to look after the cricketers from Rajasthan. We will be forming an ad-hoc body which will run cricket in Rajasthan, taking care of the interest of the players.”
