According to the new buzz the names of four players of Sunrisers Hyderabad have been emerged in IPL spot-fixing scam now. The Indian Express quoted Mumbai bookie Chandresh Patel who has reportedly admitted that he had met “Thisara Perera, Hanuma Bihari, Ashish Reddy and Karan Sharma” at the Le Meridien hotel in Pune prior to their matcg against Pune Warriors on April 17 this year.
Patel also named Pritam Reddy, Ashish Reddy’s brother who negotiated the deal.
“Pritam Reddy asked me what was expected of them,” Indian Express quoted Patel. “I told him that when the team batted, the score should not exceed 60 runs in 10 overs and also that the total should not cross 140, as well as that Hyderabad should not win the match. I told Pritam that some signal should also be given. Pritam replied saying he would finalise everything and inform Amir, and that I should contact Amir. Then we returned to Mumbai,” he added.
Hyderabad scored 119 in 20 overs and Perera scored 2, Reddy 19* and Karn Sharma 7. However Hyderabad won the match restricted Pune for 108.
“Our focus is on the sport right now. We are here to play cricket and nothing else,” Hyderabad team spokesperson told The Indian Express.
Sri Lankan Cricket Board has dismissed such report against Perera they have “full confidence in all their players.”
The police have said that four Hyderabad players are not accused in spot fixing scam and their name not appeared in the chargesheet.
“The cricketers’ names cropped up in Chandresh Patel’s statement as he claimed that he met them. They find mention in the chargesheet only as part of Patel’s statement, but they have not been named as accused in the chargesheet,” the crime branch officer told reporters.
