FIA Chairman Bernie Ecclestone showed his dissatisfaction with the display of Fernando Alonso in the Ferrari outfit. Alonso who finished as the runner-up to Sebastian Vettel was put under the scanner by the FIA chief as Bernie put question marks over Alonso’s commitment to Ferrari.
Bernie, in the official F1 season review, said, “I’ve been a little bit disappointed with Fernando because I’m a big supporter of him and of Ferrari. I thought he gave up a little bit which is proof that he looking for another team.” He added, “I don’t know whether the team is competitive because of him or because the people who are running the team aren’t getting the job done.”
Ecclestone also praised Sebastian Vettel for achieving the feat of winning 4 championships as he remarked, “You probably have to say he’s No. 1 of the drivers I’ve known.”
He also praised Pirelli for their outstanding job despite making the headlines for exploding tyres at Silverstone. He said, “Pirelli did a wonderful job for us. I told them we don’t want tyres that last the race, we want tyres that nobody knows hoe they are going to last. We’ve got that too with the new engines next year.”
