Board of Control for Cricket in India said that it has no plan to drop Chennai as venue for the sixth edition of Indian Premier League matches. Chennai will host 10 IPL matches.
Earlier IPL teams have requested BCCI to drop Chennai as venue due to the security situation of Sri Lankan players. Eight IPL teams have Sri Lankan players.
“As of now the matches will be held in Chennai. We have no plans to shift them out,” BCCI official Ratnakar Shetty told IANS.
“As of now the matches are not being moved out. But we are monitoring the situation,” IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla told IANS.
He also said IPL governing council is satisfied with the security arrangement in Chennai.
Tamil activists who are protesting against war crimes in Sri Lanka against Tamils, have threatened IPL teams to disrupt their matches in Chennai if they continue to play Sri Lankan players.
