Parisians on Wednesday, woke up to the sounds of gunshots and an extensive police raid in the northern town Saint-Denis where suspects of the Friday Paris carnage were said to be hiding. The raid that commenced close to the dawn, went on till noon. Two people were killed, including a female suspect who blew off herself, and seven were arrested by the police officials. Besides that a few security officials were injured in the combat.
Acting upon an intelligence received, the French security officials immediately raided Saint-Denis, where the suspected terrorists of the November 13 Paris carnage were said to be hiding, including the mastermind Abdelhamid Abaoud. The apartment was targeted in this massive operation on Wednesday, while shops, restaurants and schools remained closed. Locals from the area were asked to stay indoors while the operation went on.
The female terrorist denoted the suicide bomb and killed herself, while, according to reports, the mastermind Abdulhamid Abaoud also killed himself detonating the suicide vest.
In the aftermath of the incident, France’s main state broadcaster France 2 reported that the suspected terrorists were planning to attack Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport, which is near Saint-Denis, and a shopping centre in La Défense, the capital’s business district.
The police is now looking for the second suspect who is on the run, Sarah Abdeslam. Reportedly, French police authorities have issued a lookout notice in the entire Europe for this suspected terrorist who is yet to be nabbed.
