The government is investigating for facts
New Delhi: The government of USA has said that it is in deep regret of the effects of the sudden deportation of two Indian students heading to two California universities. They assured that the investigation was underway and the authorities were focusing on discovering the facts of the incident.
This assurance comes from the US Ambassador Richard Verma comes even as India has refused its students to stall their travel to the States for studies despite having verified visas, until the refusal to entry is resolved.
Commented the diplomat looking over the issue, “The embassy is aware of reports that some students bound for two California schools were denied entry by Customs and Border Protection. We regret the impact this may have had on certain students and their families. We are following this situation closely and have been in regular communication with the Department of Homeland Security, as well as the government of India. Facts are still being collected.”
Moreover, the Ambassador emphasised that the States will continue to support the educational relations between the two countries as it constitutes the base for bilateral relations. A trust-saving statement on his part, it was reiteration to the External Affairs Ministry of India, that had brought to light the fact that there were several such incidents of students being denied entry on Wednesday, specifically in the Silicon Valley University in San Jose and the Northwestern Polytechnic University in Fremont.
It had said in its advisory, “Government of India has taken up this matter with the US government. We have asked the US authorities to explain the reasons for denial of entry on a large scale to Indian students holding valid visas. The response of the US government is awaited. Till such time the matter is satisfactorily resolved, the students seeking admission in aforementioned two institutions are advised to defer their travel to the United States.”
