The Congress formally announced on Thursday that Rahul Gandhi will be the head of the election coordination committee for the party and lead the campaign for 2014 Lok Sabha Polls.
The other five members in the core-committee are- Sonia Gandhi’s political advisor Ahmed Patel, Janardan Dwivedi, Digvijaya Singh, Madhusudan Mistry and Jairam Ramesh.
Congress also announced three sub-groups – (i) pre-poll alliances – headed by defence minister AK Antony, (ii) manifesto and government programmes – Digvijaya Singh and(iii) communications and publicity – headed by Ambika Soni and Manish Tewari
Rahul Gandhi, who made several public comments recently hinting that he is ready to take ‘bigger role’ for congress, now has to deal with two foremost challenges where Congress is struggling widely.
