The US President Barack Obama has left for the three-day India visit, on Saturday evening, accompanied by his wife Michelle Obama and a sizeable delegation, including top officials. President Obama boarded the Air Force One from the Andrews Air Base and is expected to arrive in India on Sunday, by 10 in the morning.
President Barack Obama is the first US President to have received an invitation to attend the grand Republic Day function in New Delhi. He has been invited as the Chief Guest of the function. President Obama will be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as Indian officials to strengthen and expand the U.S.-India strategic partnership.
A grand ceremonial welcome is planned for the US President, after attending which, he will be paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi at his crematorium in Rajghat, before bi-lateral discussions between him and Prime Minister Modi commence. President Obama will also be meeting and dining with President Pranab Mukherjee, on Sunday night.
