President Pranab Mukherjee has given his nod to the controversial Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill on Monday. With his nod Pranab Mukherjee clears the bill to pave way for bifurcating Andhra Pradesh and create a separate Telengana statehood.
The Telengana Bill which was rejected earlier by the Andhra Pradesh Aseembly, will now be tabled in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday despite the fierce opposition from the Seemandhra MPs.
The sources are telling that the government is planning to pass the bill in Rajya Sabha by avoiding Lok Sabha for one main reason and that is in Rajya Sabha the chances for getting it passed is higher than the in Lok Sabha due to the presence of less number of the anti-Telangana MPs in the upper house of the parliament.
The government also considering moving 32 proposed amendments. Also the bill will not give Union Territory status to Hyderabad. The government is likely to announce a special package for Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra as a part of damage control.
