In a unique effort, on Saturday Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a new dedicated web platform – MyGov – asking the common man and experts from different fields to provide suggestions and ideas for better governance.
The website – www.mygov.nic.in- will allow the citizens to contribute their ideas on different issues including Ganga clean project, education of girl child and job creation.
“The success of democracy is impossible without participation of the people,” the Prime Minister said while speaking at the occasion.
“The objective of each group is to bring about a qualitative change in that sphere through people’s participation”, said Modi.
“The only thing they required was an opportunity to shine and showcase their contribution. The MyGov platform is a technology-driven medium that would provide this opportunity to contribute towards good governance” Modi added.
The PMO explains that there will be theme-based discussions on MyGov where citizens can share their opinions and ideas through ‘discuss’ and ‘do’. The discussion forum will discuss on those ideas. Citizerns can also apply for volunteering various tasks.
“These tasks would then be reviewed by other members and experts. Once approved, these tasks can be shared by those who complete the task and by other members on MyGov. Every approved task would earn credit points for completing the task”, said the PMO statement.
“The inauguration of MyGov is a small step towards the larger mission of becoming a one stop centre for citizen engagement towards good governance. Over time the number of groups, tasks and discussions will increase. MyGov would also be used as a comprehensive knowledge repository, giving insights from the sharpest and brightest minds across”, said the PMO note.
