Prime Minister Modi’s new cabinet was sworn-in on Sunday. This is the first cabinet reshuffle eversince the Prime Minister has assumed his office. Altogether 21 ministers were sworn-in at the ceremony.
Former Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar who has a good relationship with both PM Modi and RSS was sworn-in first. Suresh Prabhu, a Shiv Sena leader, has been given entry into this cabinet along with J.P. Nadda and Birendra Singh.
Manohar Parrikar may get the post of Defence Minister, Sunil Prabhu can be given Railway Ministry, Rural Development Ministry may be handed over to J. P. Nadda and Agricultural Ministry can go to Birendra Singh.
For Ministers of State (Independent), Bandaru Dattatrey, Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Dr. Mahesh Sharma have been sworn-in.
Besides, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Ram Kripal Yadav, Hribhai Parthibhai Chaudhury, Sanwas Lal Jat, Mohan Kundariya, Giriraj Singh, Hansraj Ahir, Ramshankar Kathariya, Y.S. Choudary, Jayant Sinha, Rajyavardhan Rathore, Babul Supriyo, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti and Vijay Sampla have been sworn-in as Ministers of State.
The role of Shiv Sena is still not clear although its leader Sunil Prabhu has been given a ministry in the cabinet. Shiv Sena top brass is going to conduct a meeting at 4:30 and will declare its decision in a press conference at 6 this evening.
