One of the stalwarts in the Indian politics, former Chief Minister of Bihar and senior JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar issued a declaration in the evening of 4 Jan stating that the proposed merger of the Janata Parivar parties is under consideration, though a fixed deadline is yet to be provided for the same.
The Janata Parivar includes six parties which are the JD(U), Rashtriya Janata Dal(RJD) headed by Lalu Prasad Yadav, the Samajwadi Party(SP) headed by Mulayam Singh Yadav, the Indian National Lok Dal(INLD), Janata Dal(secular) and the Samajwadi Janata party(SJP) with Kumar to lead in Bihar. In accordance to the merger with RJD, Kumar further asserted that the leaders of both the parties shall think and implement the future sequence of events. Many other vital issues such as the decisions about the future public engagements, issues that would be prominent during the next assembly elections in the upcoming year and else were also discussed.
A simultaneous statement issued by Mulayam Singh Yadav said that the party leaders had approved on the reconciliation and are satisfied with the speed of the happenings, further adding that Kumar had been praised for all his contributions in the same.
Speculations about the unification of these six parties that came into existence after drifting away from the Janata Dal had started surfacing a couple of months ago.
