A big relief for RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav as the Supreme Court on Friday granted his bail plea in the Fodder scam.
The special CBI court has convicted Lalu Prasad in the fodder scam case and sentenced to five years imprisonment. He is currently serving his term at the Birsa Munda jail in Ranchi.
Pronouncing the verdict Supreme Court said there is no point rejecting Lalu’s bail plea as 37 other convicts were enjoying bail and Lalu has also served one year sentence already.
Lalu, however, cannot contest elections for next six years as he was disqualified from the Parliament, but is free to campaign for his party.
“We have full faith in the judiciary. He may not be able to fight elections but will campaign for the party and ensure RJD’s victory. We’ll make it an election issue,” Rabri Devi said.
“We were very sure that the Supreme Court will listen to us. We have faith that he will get justice. This will boost the morale of the party,” RJD leader Manoj Jha said.
