After Saturdays terrorist attack at the Pathankot Air Force base which killed six soldiers, another grenade exploded earlier this morning during search operations which led four jawans injured.
After yesterday’s attack, the security at the Air Force bases in Jammu, Awantipur, Srinagar and Udhampur have been tightened.
According to the sources, the terrorists came in a booked Innova car from Pakistan. After crossing the border they killed the driver and called their handlers in Pakistan using the driver’s phone. It was believed the attack was planned by top Jaish-e-Mohammed leaders. Five terrorists were killed by the Indian forces.
Although the 12-member National Investigation Agency team lead by SK Singh, will formally investigate the attack from Monday, however, they have started their process since Saturday itself and reports suggest that they will lodge the case under sections of kidnapping, Unlawful Activities Preventions Act, crossing illegally, waging war against country, murder, conspiracy.
The Pathankot IAF base, situated almost 40 kms away from the border with Pakistan, is the base of MiG-21 fighter planes and Mi-25 attack helicopters of Air Force.
