Heavy, continuous rains continue lashing the city throughout Friday morning and noon, leading to water-logging and affecting transportation in several parts of the city.

Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta has asked schools to remain shut due to heavy showers. The Mumbai University has also postponed all theory and practical examinations due to heavy rains. “BMC has appealed to citizens to not send their children to school today. We are manning the beaches and taking extra precaution to prevent any drowning case,” stated an official from the disaster management department.

Railways and other modes such as the auto-rickshaws, buses and cabs continue to remain affected. The intensity of the situation also saw Mumbaikars carpooling. Awareness was spread through social networks like the Whatsapp, where messages proved to be really effective to those in need. Some angry citizens apparently slammed their fury through Twitter, blaming the local corporation as well as the BMC for improper management techniques during monsoons.

The noon also saw heavy spells in some parts of the city, though detailed information is yet to be made clear.
