A Delhi court has ordered the reopening 1984 riots case against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler on Wednesday. The Karkardooma court has ordered to set aside CBI closure report on Tyler and re-investigate the case.
The notorious 1984 anti-Sikh riots killed around 3000 Sikhs following the assassination of Indira Gandhi on October 31, 1984 by her two Sikh bodyguards.
CBI closure report claimed there was no evidence against Tytler and gave a clean-chit to him in 1984 riot case in which he was accused of killing three people near a gurudwara at Pul Bangash in New Delhi on November 1, 1984.
Jagdish Tytler along with other Congress leaders Sajjan Kumar and HKL Bhagat were accused of engineered the anti-Sikh riots.
In his first reaction Tytler told CNN-IBN, “I have nothing to reveal or hide,”
said Tytler about his alleged role in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots which were triggered after the then prime minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her Sikh bodyguards.
The counselor of Riots victims, HS Phoolka, said, “CBI’s clean chit to Jagdish Tytler has been rejected by the court. The court has also directed the CBI to further investigate the matter. The CBI will record statement of all witnesses in the case again.”
