Congress denies speculations over Priyanka Gandhi’s role in 2014 Lok Sabha polls

The congress has denied speculations over Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s major role in campaigning for upcoming Lok Sabha Polls. Priyanka met senior Congress leaders on Tuesday at Rahul Gandhi’s residence where the Congress Vice President was not there.

As Congress is gearing up to announce Rahul Gandhi’s name officially as their Prime Ministerial candidate on January 17, the role of Priyanka Gandhi becomes very important. Speculations of her contesting elections from UP has been buzzing around.

Denying the reports Party spokesperson Janardhan Dwivedi said, “Priyanka Gandhi has been a crucial member of the Congress for a long time. She has been handling Rae Bareli and Amethi for a long time. She has been meeting workers from time to time and if she has met some Congress members then what is wrong in that?”

Although Congress President Sonia Gandhi is mum on her daughter’s possible debut in the electoral politics, but some senior Congress leaders are saying that only Priyanka Gandhi can take on BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. They also feel that only Priyanka can save her brother Rahul’s fate in upcoming 2014 Lok Sabha elections as the unprecedented high unpopularity of Congress have been seen around the country.

Congress has decided to project Rahul Gandhi aggressively as the anti-corruption crusader to take away the air from both BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party.
