Keenan Santos and Reuben Fernandez, who were attacked outside a restaurant in Andheri, 5 years ago, finally got justice, with the Mumbai High Court sentencing the four accused to life imprisonment.
The verdict was pronounced in a special women’s court in Mumbai by judge Vrushali Joshi at 12pm on Thursday, and was widely appreciated by the victims’ family and friends.
Brazil Gnomes, a devoted part of this fight, said, “Today the souls of Keenan and Reuben have been laid to rest and are at peace. The tears Keenan’s grandmother has shed all these years have borne fruit. The daily court journey & the threats faced by Keenan’s father Valerian Santos every single day bear witness to the verdict of guilty pronounced today in court against the people who killed our brave hearts. My heart and soul goes out to the families of Keenan and Reuben.”
Keenan’s father Valerian Santos welcomed and appreciated the fair judgement into the case.
Keenan Santos and his friend Reuben Fernandes were attacked and killed by a group of men for standing against eve-teasers who were openly passing remarks at the girls in their group. After attacking Keenam and Reuben, the boys had fled. Later the Mumbai police arrested the four men named Jitendra Rana, Sunil Bodh, Satish Dulhaj and Dipak Tival for stabbing the two boys.
