It seems BJP is all set to form the next government in Jharkhand with its own. As per the current trend, BJP is set to secure simple majority which in 81-seat assembly. In Jammu & Kashmir, the results are going towards hung assembly with PDP is emerging single largest party ahead of BJP which is putting up its best performance ever in the valley.
Raghubar Das who has won from Jameshdpur East seat, is reportedly going to be the next chief minister of Jharkhand, however, the final decision is to be taken by Parliamentary Board.
Reacting to the results, BJP president Amit Shah said, “Poll verdict is a lesson for those who oppose our government’s agenda of development and change.”
“We have achieved the heights of victory in all elections after the Lok Sabha polls…Want to congratulate Prime Minister Modi from the bottom of my heart. Modiji led the campaign in both states,” he added.
Amit Shah indicated that BJP is ready to support PDP in J&K to form the government.
“All options are open in J&K,” Shah confirmed.
Incumbent Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah has lost his seat from Sonawar, but narrowly escaped from Beerwah seat. While, Deputy chief minister Tara Chand also lost from Chamb seat.
Separatist leader Sajjad Gani Lone emerged winner from Handwara constituency, beating National Conference leader Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan.
In wake of hung assembly scenario, the heat in the valley politics has geared up. All eyes are now on PDP chief Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who has to decide whether to take support from the BJP or make an alliance with the Congress. Many feels that although the Congress and the PDP are natural allies but this time around it may be possible that PDP may go ahead with BJP and Sajad Lone to get bigger share of benefits from Narendra Modi-led NDA government in the centre.
“We will not try to cobble up a government by manipulation. It will take time to build a formation who can fulfil the aspirations of people of J&K. The votes have been cast against the NC and the Congress,” Mehbooba Mufti hinted that her party may opted for BJP.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, meanwhile, congratulated BJP workers for party’s sound performance in the Assembly elections.
“My congratulations to the BJP karyakartas of Jharkhand. The results are the outcome of their hardwork and selfless dedication,” Modi tweeted.
