Countering the Congress party’s demand of resignation of three of its senior leaders – one minister and two chief ministers, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday, released a sting operation of an alleged negotiation between the personal secretary of Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat with some anonymous people.
In the aftermath of the sting’s release, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat was quick to refute the accusation put over. “Nothing was clear in the CD as it was absolutely blurred and it was difficult to say if it was genuine or not,” Rawat said, as reported by The Times Of India.
However, interestingly, in quite some time after the sting was released, CM’s personal secretary was suspended.
The BJP accused the Uttarakhand chief minister and his personal secretary of changing the state’s policy on granting liquor licenses to make profits.
“Instead of focusing on providing relief… for which he was sent replacing Bahuguna, Rawat is focusing on making money by tweaking the liquor policy,” said Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, while demanding the Congress party to sack the CM immediately.
Meanwhile, Rawat said he will order a forensic test of the CD and if its authenticity is established his personal secretary will be immediately placed under suspension.
Rawat’s personal secretary, Mohammad Shahid is considered to be a special person of the Chief Minister and has been assisting him ever since he was a Union Minister when Congress government was in power.
