Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray has officially pitched for Sushma Swaraj as NDA’s prime ministerial candidate in the 2014 polls.
Ignoring other potential names from NDA, especially Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Balasaheb said, that the current leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj is the best deserving candidate from NDA to become the next prime minister.
“At least today, there is only one intelligent and brilliant person. And that is Sushma Swaraj. She will be a superb choice for the prime minister’s post. She is deserving, (and) an intelligent lady. She will work very well,” the Shiv Sena chief said.
In a recent interview with Saamana, Thackeray also attacked Anna Hazare and his anti-corruption movement, calling it a media event. “In those who crowd around to support you… ask those in the gathered crowd, how many people voted in return for money,” Thackeray said.
He also targets Congress president and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi for being aggressive with the opposition parties.
