Four political parties led by Congress today met President Pranab Mukherjee and submitted a petition asking judicial probe into the controversial snooping scandal connecting Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
Along with the political parties, representative from social organisations also met the President over suspended Gujarat IAS officer Pradeep Sharma’s accusation against Narendra Modi for having a close relationship with a young architect woman who was under surveillance by Gujarat Police under direct order from then home minister Amit Shah.
“(Its) blatant violation of Constitutional oath and negation of Right to Privacy,” activist Shabnam Hashmi said.
“These are all political issues. It’s not somebody’s personal matter. It is very important for the democracy of our country and safeguarding our Constitution. Political parties cutting across party line should take it up,” CPI leader Annie Raja said.
“For us it is a very important issue. If it is today a girl in Gujarat, tomorrow it may be me or somebody else in any other part of the country,” she added.
