AAP targets DMK over 2G scam

With its new ‘Poll Khol’ campaign, the Aam Aadmi Party has targeted DMK over the 1.76-lakh crore 2G scam. On Tuesday, AAP leader Prashant Bhushan has release four fresh audio tapes and transcripts of alleged phone conversations between former Tamil Nadu ADGP Jaffar Sait and Sharad Kumar, former director of DMK Chief Karunanidhi own Kalaignar TV.

Showing the new evidence the Aam Aadmi Party has accused DMK of illegally routed money through Kalaignar TV. AAP has said that the tapes are the clear proof 2G scam where in Karunanidhi’s daughter Kanimozhi was actively also involved with others. AAP claimed that Karunanidhi was aware and “involved with the cover-up”.

Prashant Bhushan has alleged that DMK has taken 200-crore kickback from a telecom firm to get a 2G license when A Raja was telecom minister in 2008. Both Kanimozhi and Raja were arrested and sent to jail and currently out of bail. Prashant Bhushan has informed that he would submit the tapes to the Supreme Court.

Reacting to this, the CBI issued a statement on Tuesday by saying, “A conversation which is said to have been taken place in Feb-March 2011 purportedly between Sh Sharad Kr Reddy of Kalaignar TV Pvt Ltd and Sh Jaffar Sait, the then Addl DGP (Intelligence), has come to the notice of CBI through media reports. CBI is in the process of obtaining the recordings/transcripts of the said conversation after which necessary action as per law shall be taken.”
