The Uber group of cabs has been under threat once again as the woman who had been allegedly raped by an Uber taxi driver in India’s capital city, last month, has hired a prominent law firm in a bid to sue the hailing cab service in the courts of the United States.
The woman, a finance executive, was reported to have been sexually assaulted by an Uber cab driver as she was on her way back home, following an event. Ever since the incident, Uber cabs have been banned in the capital and other parts of India with the company apologizing and constituting a set of additional measures.
The woman has filed a case of contemplation in the US, according to Attorney Douglas Wigdor. In addition to the state’s criminal case, the woman had been eager to file a civil case against Uber over the background check of the drivers and associated staff.
Though headquartered in the US, Uber functions in around 53 nations worldwide. Over the last two weeks, two drivers have been charged with molestation in Chicago, US.
