Rejecting the Delhi University’s new FYUP formula, the University Grants Commission has directed the DU to start admission process from today.
In its letter the UGC asked the DU to scrap the four-year undergraduate programme and implement 3-year course.
The UGC argued that as DU had not followed any proper regulations while introducing FYUP, thus the course has no legal validity and DU should not take any time longer to go back to the traditional 3-year under-graduation course.
Earlier DU sent a letter to the UGC by saying,”The university is of the opinion that given the situation where admissions are being delayed (a) blended proposal submitted by some eminent persons to UGC and DU may provide the way forward.”
“The proposal entails admitting all students to a three-year undergraduate course with honours and will also obviate the need to call for fresh registrations. We await your response in order to convene the statutory bodies at the earliest in the best interests of the students and the academic community,” the proposal added.
