In its new education policy, the BJP-led NDA government is planning to include more parental access to their children’s educations.
According to some reports, under the new National Education Policy parents will get regular SMSes regarding their children’s educational progress including notice of daily home work, attendance of their teachers etc.
The government is also in consultations with IITs to fix objective in the fields of technology and mathematics, for the future curriculum.
The new National Education Policy is expected to come very soon. It was last formulated in 1986 under the leadership of then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. The present government is considering revamping the current education policy which is unable to meet the present global challenges and employment standards.
Sources in Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) told reporters, “The government believes that education policy formulated in 1986 does not fit into the context of current educational scenario nor can it meet the present day employment requirements.”
The Centre is considering recommendations made by various Vice-Chancellors across the country as well as the prominent educationists in India.
