M.Veerappa Moily, Petroleum Minister, has announced that the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs would soon raise the recently imposed limit on the supply of LPG gas cylinders from the current six to nine per annum per household.
Mr.Moily told press reporters: “I think it is likely to go up definitely from six to nine.”
Additional gas cylinders can be purchased from the dealers at Rs.931 per cylinder at current price levels.
Perhaps the government which is bent upon eliminating subsidies should think of eliminating subsidies and other incentives to industries and businesses rather than put the common man to hardship. Perhaps our legislators can set an example in the matter by denying themselves the facility of unlimited subsidised gas, free telephone calls etc.
