An FIR has been filed against Larji dam officials for negligence in Manali as the search operations continues on Wednesday to find the missing students. So far five bodies have been rescued out of 24 engineering students along with a guide who were washed away while taking photographs of the river.
“We are continuing our search operations. We have deployed more teams. The current is not too strong today so we are hoping that search operations will be more successful,” said a police official.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu declared a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the students of VNR College of engineering in Hyderabad.
“I condemn the delay by the officials or the government. Also it is not enough to sound a warning. Enough precautions were not taken. This is not the correct approach,” the new Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said.
Telegana govenment said they will sue Himachal Pradesh dam officials as well as the college for negligence.
“The Telangana government will take legal action against the Himachal Pradesh dam authority for criminal negligence leading to the loss of innocent lives and the college authorities for taking students for a picnic by saying it was an industrial training tour,” Telangana Home Minister Narsimha Reddy had said.
The eyewitnesses claimed that there was no prior signal or warning siren before water release.
The dam authorities denied allegations and claimed that warning was issued but the students did not pay any attention.
