In a shocking revelation, the head of the forensics department at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has claimed that he was asked to provide a false report in the Sunanda Tharoor mysterious death case.
According to Times of India, Dr Sudhir Gupta, who lead the forensic team which conducted the postmortem on Sunanda Tharoor’s body, has reportedly written a complaint letter to the health ministry explaining the details. He has reportedly alleged top government officials had persuaded him to show the case as a “natural death”.
Dr Gupta has also stated that he has been harassed since then as he refused to follow ‘order’ and delivered the genuine report which suggested that Sunanda’s death was due to drug poisoning which could be both suicidal or homicidal.
“I have written to the authorities concerned about my grievances. I don’t want to make any further comment on the issue,” he told ToI.
Sunanda Pushkar, the wife of Congress leader and former Union minister Shashi Tharoor, was found dead mysteriously at Leela Palace hotel on January 17 this year. Her death shocked everyone as the couple released a joint statement expressing their solidarity just a day before, following a public spat between her and Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar over her alleged affair with Sashi Tharoor.
