In the latest developments in the Syrian conflicts, the local news agency reports that the Syrian army have found a ‘mass grave’, in its excavations that contains near about 40 bodies, in Palmyra that was re-captured from the Islamic State (IS) group.
The site contained bodies of men, women and children alike and lay near the north-eastern part of the city. Some of the buried are said to be victims and had died either by beheading or being shot at the heart, was being speculated. The bodies have been taken to a military hospital.
Meanwhile fighting between the militants and the army seems to have escalated, with both the forces ‘erupting’ from the city of Aleppo, if sources are to be believed. IS rebels are said to have executed at least 250 people during their seize and control of the ancient city of Palmyra. The group has also earned it’s reputation for invoking fear everywhere and damaging historic sites into mere nothings.
Sources state that the recapture of Palmyra is one of the greatest ‘setbacks’ or de-merits for the Islamic State weakening it’s hold and confidence, ever since it self- declared a caliphate.
