US and Germany urge Egypt army to free Morsi


After Germany, the United States on Friday asked Egypt’s military to release former president Mohamed Morsi from so called “safe place”.

“We will continue to resist. We will stay one or two months, or even one or two years. We won’t leave here until our president, Mohamed Morsi, comes back,” Prominet Islamist leader Safwat Hegazi told Morsi-supporters on Friday.

US State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the United States urged Egypt’s military to free Morsi.

Since military overthrew former President Mohamed Morsi, the first democratically elected President of Egypt, on July 3, violent protest erupted in Egypt and several people have been died so far.
