Terror strikes in Pakistan once again as an apparent suicide bomber struck near an ‘imambargah’ in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, leaving over 15 people injured while the death toll incurring at the least seven lives in the late hours of Friday evening.
The blast is another sizzling attack on Pakistan, as the nation is still on the edge and in a state of mourning over the Taliban attack in Peshawar which
involved school children, last month. Though there were no claims of responsibility from any of the existing terror organisations, the Sunni extremists are most likely to be under suspicion. The blast occurred in a narrow and congested locality near the mosque and it is reported that the mosque contained around 200 people at the time of explosion. According to sources, the authorities believe that the human bomber tried to enter in the mosque but when he couldn’t despite of all the attempts, he detonated himself up at the entrance.
In response to the attack, the security has been tightened even since. Orders have also been released to probe into the incident. The government, too, has been criticised by Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, chief of the Awami Muslim League. The prime minister Nawaz Sharif and other high-profile bureaucrats have equally expressed concerns and condemned the act, generating similar responses from the masses.
