The alleged extremists group Jamaat-e-Islami calls for nationwide bandh in Bangladesh on Monday against government’s decision to ban the party.
The government in Bangladesh is seriously planning to ban the largest Islamic party in the country Jamaat-e-Islami. The Parliament amended a law to allow the prosecution of Jamaat-e-Islami for war crimes on Sunday.
For the last 2 weeks, Bangladesh has witnessed large protests across many cities and towns. The biggest rally since the independence was organized to protest against life sentences given to Jamaat-e-Islami members in connection of 1971 Liberation war crimes. The protesters are demanding death penalty for war criminals.
