On the day of civic celebration in Boston, a major terror strike stunned the city and the United States of America. Two bomb blasts at the Boston Marathon on Monday afternoon killed at least three people and injuring over 140.
15 people are critically injured and among dead there was an 8-year-old boy.
The devastating terror attack hit at 2:50 p.m. when the runners at the Boston Marathon charged over the finish line about 10 seconds and about 100 yards apart.
Mobile phone service was temporarily stopped immediately after the explosion to prevent remote detonation of any other bombs. All major US cities like New York, Washington, Los Angeles and San Francisco are on high alert for possible terror threat.
FBI has started their investigation and examining CCTV footage. Boston Police is searching for a black person with a black backpack.
No group has claimed their responsibility.
President Barack Obama addressed the country and said, “I send my deepest thoughts and prayers to the families of the victims. We will find out who did this and we will hold them accountable. I have directed the federal government to increase security around the US as necessary after Boston explosions.”
“Apparently there has been a bombing. I don’t know any of the details of what caused it, who did it. I don’t think it exists yet. But our prayers are with those people in Boston who suffered injury,” Vice President Joe Biden said in his initial reaction.
